Mi 26
Mi 26- a heavy lift Russian helicopter, which can carry 85 fully combat troops, in addition to crew. the helicopter was extnesively used in lifting guns and heavy equipment in Kargil conflict. It also providd services for lifting tunnel materials fo Northern Railways in J&K. It can fly upto 8000 meters.
“What is the Chinook compared to (the Russian) Mi-26 (that was also in the competition)? It is a baby. The Mi-26 can lift the Chinook by the neck!” Viktor Komardin, the head of the Russian delegation to India’s military airshow Aero India
Russia is not happy over India's preference of military equipment from western countries.
