 India and Mauritius: President's visit

Three memorandums of understanding (MoUs) for cooperation in the field of persons with disabilities and senior citizens, health and medicine and tourism were signed during the visit.

It was also agreed to find a solution of differences in Double Taxation Avoidance Conventio (DTAC) permitting investments with tax breaks. The tax agreement is in force since 1980 and popularly called 'Mauritius route" has drawn considerable investment in India ( around USD 55 Billion in last ten years). it has helped Mauitius in developed of its fincial services as capital gains can be taxed only in Mauritius.
