CENTRAL TREATY ORGANISATION
It was formed by Iran, Iraq, Pakistan,Turkey and UK in 1955 and was dissolved in 1979.It is also known by 'Baghdad Pact ' and METO(Middle East Treaty organisation)
CENTO committed the nations to mutual cooperation and protection, as well as non-intervention in each other's affairs. Its goal was to contain the USSR. It was one of the least successful alliance of the cold war.
