Guam is the largest and Southernmost of Mariana island , located in Pacific. It is an unincorporated territory of US , which means it is controlled by US but not a part of US proper. its capital is Hagatna ( formerly Agana)
the island is in news when US has decided to deploy its Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) system here, as a response to North Korea's threat.
(THAAD), formerly Theater High Altitude Area Defense, is a United States Army system to shoot down short, medium, and intermediate ballistic missiles in their terminal phase using a hit-to-kill approach.
