Consensus by all political parties has been achieved for new Land Acquisition Bill, which is likely to replace the old and archaic Land Acquisition Act, 1894.

In the new bill , the ownership will remain with the farmers and the land will be leased to the developers. Thus farmers can keep on getting regular income. In rural areas, the owners will be given four times the market value while in urban area they will get twice the market value. consent of 80 5 of displaced population also be taken in case land is going to be used by private companies or PPP projects.
