Gir Forest

Located 65 km south east of Junagarh in Gujrat, Gir Forest Nationaal Park and Wild Life Sactuary is the sole home of Asiatic Lions.It has more than 400 flora and 2375 fauna ( with 38 species of mammals, 300 species of birds, 37 reptiles and 2000 species of insects).

Lion breeding programme has been successful and lion count is increasing. Sakkarbaug zoo , Junagarh has successfully bred 180 lions and they practice artificial insemination also. 126 pure Asiatic Lions have been given to zoos in India and abroad.
