Amnesty International appeal for Bhullar

An Engineering Professor , whose death  sentence was confirmed by Supreme court in 2002. Now, Supreme Court has rejected his mercy plea taken on grounds of  inordinate delay and ill mental health.President had rejected mercy plea in 2012, which was pending since 2003.

Amnesty International India had appealed to the people to write to the President, the Prime Minister and Home Minister urging them not to execute him.Pointing holes in the investigation where he was not given access to a lawyer during his initital detention  and trial and also finding guilty on the basis of unsubstantiated 'confession' made to the police. He later retracted his confession that it was made under pressure of police. He was arrested under TADA
( subsequently lapsed) and whose provisions were not compatible with international  fair trial standards.
