The Harappan script. Earliest specimen of script was noticed in 1853 but complete script was discovered in 1923. But the Harappan script has not been deciphered till date.
Harappan script is not alphabetical but mainly pictographic but includes many abstract signs . There are nearly 4000 specimens of Harappan writing on stone seals and other objects. altogether, there are about 400 pictograph where each picture stands for some sound, idea or object.
The inscriptions may have been mostly written from right to left, but sometimes follows a boustrophedonic style( An ancient method of writing using alternate left-to-right and right-to-left lines).
