Harappan Weights

Harappan Weights. they were made of a stone called chert( fine grain silica rich sedimentary rock). Weights were cubical in shape and had no markings.Wights were very precise, the lower denomination were binary ( 1, 2, 4, 8, 16, 32 etc upto 12,800), while the higher denominations followed the decimal system.
Smaller weights were used for weighing jewellery and beads . Metal scale pans have also been found in the Harappan culture.
